Compost is a superior organic soil amendment that can be used for culturing nurseries, improving drainage, and reducing soil compaction. It supports soil biota and supplements crops’ nutrient demand. Compost availability, however, remains a challenge, particularly for organic farming. To address this challenge, we have partnered with the University of the West Indies Field Station (UFS) to design and create a model composting facility that will:
1. Recycle all onsite agricultural waste in combination with other municipal waste.
2. Act as a model demonstration facility for knowledge sharing.
3. Serve the growing demand by farmers for top-quality compost to improve their growing conditions for crop production.
In this video, we share a brief interview with TTT during the setup of a compost pile at the UFS.
